This pre-owned Gulfstream was bought in december 1995 for approximately 19.5 million Euro after much debate in the Dutch political arena. In 1996 and 1997 the aircraft was grounded several times due to technical malfunctions during visits abroad. It appeared the aircraft needed some urgent maintenance as some technical inspections had been long overdue. Before its transfer to the Dutch Air Force, the Gulfstream had been operating as VR-BOY. With its previous owners the Gulfstream accumulated a total of 2400 hours. The Gulfstream was to be taken out of service in December 2013, but is still operating today.
